Description

The 10,000 Islands Excursion is one of the most immersive ways to experience the natural world surrounding Marco Island. This guided eco-tour takes you deep into the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge, combining a scenic boating experience with time to explore a remote barrier island accessible only by boat.

Your adventure begins with a slow, intimate cruise through the mangrove islands. As you navigate the calm backwaters, watch for dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, and a wide variety of coastal birds. Ospreys, bald eagles, herons, egrets, ibis, and roseate spoonbills are commonly seen. Throughout the journey, your Florida Master Naturalist guide shares insights into the area’s ecosystems, wildlife, history, and cultural heritage.

The second part of your excursion takes you to a pristine barrier island beach—an undeveloped shoreline that few visitors ever reach. Explore tidal flats and shallow pools, learn about beach dynamics, and enjoy exceptional shelling opportunities. With guidance from your naturalist, discover how to identify different shells and understand the living creatures that inhabit them.

Perfect for families, nature lovers, and curious travelers, this hands-on experience offers a memorable look at the wild beauty of the 10,000 Islands.
