Frequently Asked Questions about Brooklyn Giro Bike Tours

What do we do on the tours?

Brooklyn Giro Bike Tours provides high-quality bikes and an experienced local tour guide to ride with you. You'll make stops to talk about the history of the neighborhoods you visit or the sites you will see. Some of our tours make stops at local shops for snacks and drinks.

    What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 20-30 minutes before the tour begins, so they can get set up. Adjusting your seat and getting you on the right bike is important. The guide will also need to go over safety and answer any questions you may have.

Do I need to be an avid cyclist to go on the tours?

No. Tours ride at a relaxed pace of 6-8 mph, covering 10-15 miles on mostly bike paths with minimal hills. NYC's improved bike laws make cycling safer. If you're uncomfortable about cycling when you arrive, you'll be placed on an easier ride or issued a refund.

    What are the age requirements?

Participants must be ages 13 and up to join the tours.

    Where do the tours begin?

The Brooklyn Tours begin in Dumbo, Brooklyn a waterfront area with remarkable and ongoing development. The Manhattan tours start near South Street Sea Port from Manhattan Mini Storage located at 220 South Street. They don’t have a storefront, but don’t worry! Upon arrival, bikes will be outside, and a tour guide will greet you.

    What is the refund policy?

Refunds are fully guaranteed with no questions asked if you can't attend or reschedule, but please reach out in advance. No refunds or cancellations will be issued for no-shows.

What is the policy for bad weather?

Riding in rain or snow isn’t ideal, but NYC weather can change quickly, especially with summer showers. If inclement weather affects your tour, you can cancel with advance notice. If the company cancels, you'll be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule.

What should I wear and bring?

Guests should check the weather and avoid loose clothing while riding. Bulky items like large purses or expensive cameras are not ideal, but secure storage is available. Arrive 30 minutes early for accommodations. Water and snacks are not provided.

If I cannot finish the tour, can I leave?

Perhaps. If you do decide that you cannot finish, you must be able to return the bike before the end of the tour at the storage facility and leave the bike locked. Please note that the bike provided to you is your responsibility during the tour and you may be charged $350 if the bike is lost or stolen.

Is gratuity included in the tours?

No, however tipping your guide is strongly recommended.

    Do tours end on time?

Tour durations may vary due to factors like flat tire repairs, group experience, or detours based on group preferences. While most tours return on time, there may be occasional delays of 15-30 minutes, especially if the group enjoys post-tour activities like drinks, pizza, or coffee. Allow 15-30 minutes after the scheduled tour ends.
