Frequently Asked Questions about Fisherman's Wharf & Waterfront Segway Tour
Are there physical limitations for who can and cannot ride a Segway?
We offer a 45-50 minute training session for all Segway tour guests. However, riding and navigating a Segway is not an ideal situation for individuals with or a history of mobility issues.
All guests who wish to participate in the tour must be able to easily and quickly step on and off without assistance. This movement is similar to ascending and descending stairs without the use of a handrail.
Pregnant women are not allowed to participate in the tour due to the risk of falling when navigating the Segway. Due to the same risk, individuals above the age of 70 are not allowed to participate.
In an effort to ensure all guests are safe throughout the entire tour experience, we require that all guests must be age 12 or older and weigh at least 100 lbs.
I need to cancel my reservation. What is the process for doing so?
Any cancellations made by the listed cancellation date will receive a FULL REFUND with absolutely NO CANCELLATION FEES. Any reservations past the cancellation date cannot be changed or canceled.
What happens in the case of rain?
All tours run in light rain, fog, or shine. In the case that a tour is canceled due to extreme weather, you will be given the opportunity to join a future tour.
What time is my tour?
You will set your tour time when making your reservation. For questions about reservation times, please call customer service.
Are there restrooms available?
There are public restroom facilities at the 3 neighborhood shopping centers, Argonaut Hotel or in the nearby National Park Museum prior to your arrival. The Golden Gate Park Segway Tour start location has public restrooms next to the training area. The VIP Wharf location at 417 Beach Street has restroom facilities on site. There will be one restroom stop on the tour approximately 1 1/2 after we begin training.
Is parking available?
No. There are no onsite parking facilities available. It is recommended that guests park at one of the many lots and garages nearby or utilize public transportation.
What should I wear for the tour?
Closed-toed shoes are required for tour participation. Wearing an extra layer such as a light jacket is ideal for the San Francisco weather.
Will I be taught how to ride a Segway?
Yes. All riders are thoroughly trained prior to the tour. Training instruction includes safe Segway operation, emergency stops, a safety cone course, and the “Share the Road” policy overview. Every rider is required to wear a helmet and wear a bright safety vest.
